Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Per fess Sanguine and ermine, in chief a lion rampant Argent.

Symbolism
Maroon and white (silver) are the colors for the Army Medical Service.  The per fess partition line and the ermine, taken from the corporate arms of Cologne, symbolize the organizations participation in the Rhineland campaign.  The rampant lion taken from the arms of Bavaria represents the Central Europe campaign.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 18 May 1955.
